Boating and Lake Activities

We bought our first boat in 1996, I wanted an affordable entry boat for our first one to see how we liked boating and lake activity. This boat with it's big block Ford motor, was a great wake board and tube boat with a massive wake behind it, it was large enough to haul our entire family to the lake for a weekend outing of tubing, skiing, fishing.

We had a lot of fun with that old boat, tubing, fishing and cruising the lakes. Our family became pretty much lake dwellers every weekend through the summer months.

We found this was a fantastic fun way to spend weekends together as an entire family.

But like all old boats.....they reach a point were you are working on them as much as you are using them, so with the family fully enjoying weekend boating, a friend and I attended the Austin Boat show in 1999 and I came home with a brand new shiney Glasstron 195E. This had the Mercruiser small block Chevy engine, that purly screamed, it trimed out absolutely wonderful and would just float across the lake at about 65mph, carried our entire family plus several friends of the kids to the lake every weekend for 7 to 8 years. Then the sad day came when all the kids were grown, starting families of their own and the boat sat for over 2 years, so decided to sell it to a young family that could gain the same enjoyment from it we did. It was a sad day when I sold it, but we had a decade of memories and those would never depart. SO SOLD IT I DID!

The next summer the kids all thought it would be fun to start taking the boat out to the lake with the husbands, mom, dad, grandkids, etc...SIGH!

MAYBE A NEW BOAT IS IN MY FUTURE.....

Our granddaughter was tired of being told she was too young to go to go out on the boat....so she stowed away and when no one was looking she stole the boat......

She is now 9 years old and would be enjoying the lake if grandpa had not sold the boat. As I am reminded every summer.
